The last of the state and territory Excellence in Surveying & Spatial Information (EISSI) Awards were presented on 30 October 2026 in Tasmania and Western Australia.

Tasmania held its first dedicated ceremony, at the Country Club Tasmania as part of the Tasmanian Surveying & Geospatial Conference. PDA Surveyors, Engineers & Planners won two awards, for the MONA Jetty Tunnel and the Lake King William Tunnel. AM Surveys took the innovation award for bridge clash detection between Launceston and Bell Bay.

In Western Australia, the event was hosted by the Western Australian Institution of Surveyors and Surveyors Australia at the Pan Pacific Hotel. De Nada Surveys won the Ferdinand George Medcalf Award and the infrastructure award for the Stephenson Avenue Extension. Woolpert and Talison Lithium won the mine surveying award for a GDA2020 datum modernisation.

All winners now enter the National EISSI Awards in Canberra on 5 February 2027.

Why it matters: The awards show which surveying and spatial projects Australia's profession rates highly, including datum modernisation in mining and digital heritage recording. Practitioners elsewhere can use them as benchmarks for project delivery and innovation.
