Telangana targets one-year completion of statewide land re-survey
Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has told officials to re-survey land across the state in the presence of farmers, with a target of covering every parcel within a year. He spoke at a review meeting at the Medchal-Malkajgiri Collectorate on Wednesday 4 November 2026, covering the erstwhile Ranga Reddy district.
Tahsildars are to visit re-survey villages daily, while RDOs, Additional Collectors and Collectors should supervise and visit at least weekly. The first phase covers selected revenue villages in every district. The minister said the exercise is the first of this scale in about 125 years and should reconcile official survey records with actual possession, including Revenue–Forest boundary disputes and patta land discrepancies. Officials were also told to examine Section 22A issues not covered by existing orders.
Why it matters: A statewide cadastral re-survey with unique parcel records is a large demand for surveying, mapping and land-records work, and a reference case for other countries, including African ones, digitising land administration and resolving boundary disputes.
