Sodex launches SDX-AutoScan for automatic daily as-builts from Trimble Earthworks dozers

Austria-based Sodex Innovations has launched SDX-AutoScan, a 3D lidar system for bulldozers running the Trimble Earthworks grade control platform. It was announced on 5 November 2026, ahead of the Trimble Dimensions conference.

The system uses the machine's existing Trimble GNSS/INS positioning, so no second positioning system is needed. It records centimetre-accurate, high-resolution point clouds during normal work without operator input. Data syncs at short intervals to SDX-Cloud, Sodex's cloud software, which builds current 3D site models. These are also available in Trimble Connect and Trimble WorksManager, so managers can review as-builts, volumes and progress daily.

Sodex says contractors can bill faster and spot deviations from plans or quoted volumes sooner. It follows the company's SDX-4DVision system for excavators. Sodex will exhibit at Trimble Dimensions, Booth 733.

Why it matters: Automatic as-built capture from machines already fitted with GNSS control could cut the need for separate survey crews and speed progress and volume checks on earthworks projects, including mining and road building where dozers are widely used.
