Pune sets 30 October deadline for HCMTR and inner ring road land surveys
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has told officials to finish joint land measurement and demarcation for two planned city roads by 30 October 2026. The roads are the High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR), planned at 24 metres wide, and an inner ring road planned at 65 metres. The instruction came at a 15 October review with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), PMRDA and traffic police.
PMC must also supply further documents and technical reports to secure approval for transferring state-government land. The HCMTR needs about 498,390 square metres. The inner ring road covers 39.27 km inside PMC limits, across 21 villages, and needs around 332 hectares. PMC's Standing Committee has cleared acquisition proposals totalling Rs 3,722 crore. Defence and railway land processes have drawn a favourable response.
Why it matters: Joint measurement and demarcation are the cadastral groundwork that precedes land acquisition for major corridors. The case shows how survey deadlines gate infrastructure delivery, a dynamic familiar to surveyors working on linear projects elsewhere.
