Rangareddy district authorities in Telangana, India, ran a joint survey on 30 October 2026, the day after the Supreme Court decided that a 550-acre parcel at Miyapur, covering survey numbers 100 and 101, is state property. About 400 acres were found vacant and about 150 acres encroached, with colonies and a religious structure on the site.

Officials said 445 acres had earlier been allotted to HMDA, the Hyderabad development authority, but litigation stopped its use. Most of the land has been fenced along roughly 8 km. The collector said the revenue department and HMDA will protect the open land, while the state will decide on the existing colonies. No new construction will be allowed. The government is considering a layout and auction of the land.

Why it matters: The case shows how parcel-level surveys and boundary verification underpin land-title disputes and public-land protection after court rulings. The same methods apply wherever encroachment on state land needs quantifying.
