Esri Eastern Africa Celebrates GIS Innovation at EAUC2024

The 13th Esri Eastern Africa User Conference (EAUC2024), held in May 2024, brought together over 150 GIS professionals from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and beyond to showcase advancements in geospatial technology. Hosted by Esri Eastern Africa, the event featured workshops on ArcGIS applications for mining, biodiversity conservation, and infrastructure planning, such as Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway. The conference highlighted regional success stories, including Tanzania’s African People and Wildlife winning the 2024 ArcGIS Story Maps Competition. This event underscores East Africa’s growing geospatial expertise, fostering collaboration among governments, NGOs, and private sectors to address urban planning, conservation, and infrastructure challenges.
