EO AFRICA R&D releases recording of webinar on monitoring air quality from space
The EO AFRICA R&D Facility, an ESA-funded initiative, has published the recording of the 24th session in its webinar series, "Monitoring Air Quality from Space". The session was held online on 7 October 2026 and delivered under the Facility's framework by UTwente-ITC, with Marloes Penning de Vries named as presenter in the Facility's announcement.\n\nThe talk covers how satellite-based approaches track air pollution and support health protection. It sets out the basics of air quality monitoring, the principal pollution sources and the health effects of dirty air, paying particular attention to children as the most vulnerable group. The recording was posted on 29 October 2026 and can be watched on the Facility's YouTube channel.
Why it matters: Free recorded training on satellite air quality monitoring gives African practitioners and health-sector analysts an accessible entry point to atmospheric Earth observation, complementing the Facility's online course on satellite remote sensing of air quality.
