EgSA opens fully funded African space training in Cairo; applications close 9 November
Egypt's space agency, EgSA, is taking applications for its 2026 Annual African Training Programme, run jointly with EAPD, the development-partnership agency of Egypt's foreign ministry. Applications close on 9 November 2026.
All costs are covered and there are 20 places for participants from African countries. The theme is building African capacity to use space technology for sustainable development. It targets professionals at African space agencies, space-application authorities, ministries, public institutions, research centres and universities.
Training runs from 6 to 17 December 2026 at the Egyptian Space Academy in Space City, New Cairo. Applicants will be told the outcome on 22 November 2026. Applications go through an online form, and enquiries can be sent to partnerships@egspaceacademy.org.
The two agencies have run the programme since 2022. The first cycle, in December 2022, trained 15 people from eight countries. Egypt told the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space in 2025 that 71 specialists from 34 African countries had been trained over four years. This is the first edition held at the Egyptian Space Academy, which EgSA launched in March 2026.
Why it matters: A funded route to hands-on space-technology training in Cairo is open to African professionals, including those who work with satellite data in government and research. The deadline is only days away, so interested practitioners and their institutions need to act immediately.
