Blue Marble launches Global Mapper subscription in three tiers
Blue Marble Geographics announced on 28 September 2026 that Global Mapper is now available as a subscription in three tiers: Essentials, Advanced and Professional. The offering combines desktop applications and services that were previously sold separately. The Advanced and Professional tiers add Geographic Calculator and MAPublisher to the core Global Mapper software, covering data processing, datum transformations and map production on one licence.
Subscribers get more than eight features not available otherwise, including lidar and point cloud tools, photogrammetry improvements and AI tooling. A new Blue Marble Hub handles licences, seat assignment, downloads, support and training.
The launch follows the company's combination with Avenza Systems announced in April. Customers with active Maintenance & Support contracts keep support until expiry and can migrate before renewal. Blue Marble says forthcoming Avenza Maps updates will improve data sharing between office and field.
Why it matters: Existing Global Mapper users, including surveyors and mapping firms in Africa, will need to weigh moving from perpetual licences and maintenance contracts to subscription. The tighter link to Avenza Maps may also ease sharing of office-prepared data with field teams.
