Angola's growing space economy with Earth observation focus

Angola is rapidly expanding its space sector, moving beyond satellite communications (ANGOSAT-2) to advanced Earth observation capabilities. Led by GGPEN (The National Space Program Management Office), the country has launched ANGEO-1, its first dedicated EO satellite, established the GEDAE Geodata Centre, and rolled out practical applications in precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, and urban planning. Through initiatives like Conecta Angola and strategic international partnerships, Angola is building one of Africa's most integrated space programmes, leveraging space technology for digital transformation, economic growth, and regional connectivity.
