The African Space Agency (AfSA) has opened applications for a five-day training course in Earth Observation, GIS and artificial intelligence. It will run from 18 to 22 January 2027 in Rabat, Morocco, under the Continental Innovation component of the Africa–EU Space Partnership Programme (AESPP). Applications opened on 3 November 2026 and close on 30 November 2026.

The course is aimed at African professionals, researchers and entrepreneurs, and covers three application areas: agriculture monitoring, land use and land management including territorial planning, and water resource monitoring and management. It combines EO and GIS fundamentals with practical exercises, AI applications and entrepreneurship. Candidates will be assessed on professional background, motivation, technical experience and potential to apply what they learn. Applications go through an online form in English; details on places and financial support are in the official call.

Why it matters: The course gives African practitioners structured training in applying EO, GIS and AI to food, land and water questions, and is tied to a continental programme that also supports EO service development. The short application window means interested candidates need to act this month.
