GISCI Expands Geospatial Professional Certification in Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania

Source: Spatialsource

From emerging professionals to experienced practitioners, GISCI is expanding access to internationally recognized geospatial credentials and building stronger professional pathways throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania.

The geospatial profession is evolving rapidly, and professional recognition has never been more important. The GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) is working to advance professional standards and recognition through its internationally established GISP® (Certified GIS Professional) certification and its newest credential, GISP-E® (Emerging GIS Professional). The GISP® certification recognizes experienced geospatial professionals who demonstrate technical knowledge, professional experience, educational achievement, contributions to the profession, and a commitment to ethical practice. It provides employers, clients, and colleagues with an independent measure of professional competency and commitment to the geospatial field. Recognizing the importance of developing the next generation of professionals, GISCI introduced the PreGISP® program, leading to the GISP-E® credential. Designed for students nearing graduation and recent graduates entering the workforce, GISP-E ® provides an opportunity to demonstrate foundational geospatial knowledge and establish a professional identity early in their careers.

GISCI is now focused on expanding awareness, engagement, and opportunities for these credentials throughout Australia, New Zealand, and the broader Oceania region. Building on the region’s history of professional collaboration, GISCI hopes to establish stronger relationships with geospatial organizations, academic institutions, employers, and individual practitioners. Through these partnerships, GISCI seeks to foster and strengthen a more connected geospatial profession with shared standards, professional development, ethical practice, and recognition of the knowledge and experience that geospatial professionals bring to their work.

Whether you are an established professional considering GISP certification, an emerging professional exploring GISP-E, or an organization interested in supporting professional recognition, GISCI welcomes the opportunity to connect.

Professional excellence. Global recognition. Stronger geospatial communities.
